Managing Colors
Color management is color calibration that corrects for variations in color tones due to differences between printers and aging, and provides continuously consistent corrected color tones.
Use color calibration to correct the color tones of this printer.
If you have multiple printers, you can make the color tones of the printers the same by executing color calibration on each of the printers.
Performing Color Calibration
The following tools are available for color calibration.
- operation panel of the printer
- Quick Utility Toolbox supplied with the printer
- Device Management Console (color management software)
The following table shows the differences between above tools.
Use the one appropriate to your purpose.
Color management function | Operation Panel | Quick Utility Toolbox | Device Management Console |
---|---|---|---|
Performing color calibration | OK | OK | OK |
Checking color calibration logs and advisability of executing color calibration | N/A | OK | OK |
Checking color calibration progress | N/A | OK | OK |
Displaying calibration group (calibration link) | N/A | N/A | OK |
Central management of multiple printers | N/A | N/A | OK |
To perform color calibration using the operation panel, see below.
For details on Quick Utility Toolbox, see below.
- Executing Color Calibration from Quick Utility Toolbox (Windows)
- Executing Color Calibration from Quick Utility Toolbox (Mac OS)
For details on Device Management Console, see below.
Important
-
The advisability of executing color calibration displayed on Device Management Console or Quick Utility Toolbox is offered as a guide. We recommend color calibration in the following situations.
- After initial printer installation
- If colors seem different from before, despite having the same environment and printing conditions
- To ensure uniform colors when printing on multiple printers (However, be sure to use the same version of firmware and printer driver and the same settings.)
Note
- Calibration link uses the same type of paper in the execution of color calibration to improve color differences between not only the same type of printers, but also between printers of the same series that support different page sizes.
Using Paper other than Canon Genuine Paper
To execute color calibration for paper other than Canon genuine paper, the custom media information file containing a dedicated "calibration target" for the paper is required. For this, use Media Configuration Tool (media management software).
If you register a custom media information file to the printer using Media Configuration Tool, you can execute color calibration for paper other than Canon genuine paper.
